Caring for the Whole Woman

We’re on a mission. Would you like to join us? We would like to ensure that women visiting Foodbank not only have access to emergency food supplies, but also have access to vital feminine hygiene products (tampons and sanitary towels).

Why is this important?

Feminine hygiene products are expensive but essential. Without access to these products women would struggle to lead an active, flexible, private or public life and lack of access to these items also poses a serious risk to women’s health. The cost of these products is on the rise and we don’t believe that women should be in a situation where they have to risk their health as they are forced to prioritise other outgoings at the expense of these items.

Individuals who visit Foodbank come from a variety of backgrounds and are facing a myriad of different challenges; however they all have a one thing in common. At that moment, their circumstances are stacked in such a way which leaves them without access to vital supplies.

It takes a great deal of courage to admit that you need help and it takes bags of it to step out and seek support. As the cost of feminine hygiene products rises they are fast becoming beyond the reach of many women.

What can you do to support?

Foodbank wouldn’t function without dedicated volunteers who take time out of their hectic schedules to pack bags, date rotate stock and to provide a listening ear to clients visiting the centre. It also wouldn’t function without the generous donations provided by you guys!

Ladies – next time you shop for feminine hygiene products could you pick up an extra pack? Why not maximize your giving power by clubbing together with the women in your office or with friends to donate in bulk? Vauxhall Foodbank would like to pass your donations to women in need in our community.

Donations to support this new initiative can be dropped into Vauxhall Foodbank when the centre is open on Saturdays or Wednesdays between 11.30-13.30 (Vauxhall Christian Centre, 105 Tyers Street, Vauxhall, London, SE11 5HS).
