This weekend saw the worst mass shooting in the US for the past 25 years, when a gunman opened fire in The Pulse Club, Orlando, leaving 49 dead and at least 53 wounded.
Would you join us in prayer this week for the situation in Orlando, and for all across the world who face similar oppression, hatred and violence. You may find this prayer a helpful place to start:
Lord Jesus, Prince of Peace,
Would you bring your peace to all those affected by the tragic shooting in Orlando. Comfort the families and friends of those who have lost loved ones and bring healing to those who are still fighting for their lives.
We ask that you would give grace and wisdom to those in positions of influence. Guide the hands of medical professionals who tend to the injured. Strengthen the resolve of all those in authority, who work to keep the peace. And give boldness to those in power, enabling them to make wise decisions that decrease gun crime.
We pray too for the LGBTQ+ community. May they live free from fear of violence. Would you turn around hearts that hate and empower your church to be a force for love, healing and reconciliation.
