Today we pray for peace. If you were with us in church yesterday, we prayed the ancient prayer of St. Francis of Assisi. Today we continue to pray for peace; for ourselves, our communities and our nations. Peace is a gift that we can receive, but also give. In the midst of uncertainty, it is a place that we can live from.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, you are the Prince of Peace. You have taught us that we are blessed when we look for ways to make peace with others. We ask that our nation would be filled with peacemakers. We ask that you would help us to see situations where we can bring peace; in conversations, by our actions, the way that we think about others. We ask that we would know your peace in our own hearts. You have promised us a peace that goes beyond understanding, a peace that doesn’t always answer every question but is sustaining and life giving beyond that. May we be filled with your peace so that we can be courageous and humble peacemakers in our communities, our workplaces, our friendships and our families. Amen.
For reflection: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
