Our nation is shaped by many people from different sectors of society. Today let’s pray for all those who have influence, not only as they seek to work out the best way forward in their own sector, but also the way that contributes to the inherent values of our nation.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank you that you hear our prayers and you love this nation. We pray today for all those in government, parliament, education, the arts, economics, media, business and in health organisations. Would you bring appropriate collaboration across parties and institutions as people in these places seek progression at this time. Would you refresh those who are tired and plant seeds of wisdom where needed. Would you give perception to leaders of these places to enable them to work for the common good. We pray that our institutions would flourish, inspire and find resolutions in the midst of uncertainty.
So many of these places are led from London and so we pray especially for our city. We ask that it would prosper economically, and also overflow with kindness, mercy, justice, love, hope and wisdom, and that we would be a blessing to the nations. As London is named globally as both as one of the best cities to live in, and also one of the loneliest, we pray that people who live here would find community and home. We pray that those who have moved here on their own would find welcome. We thank you for the diversity of our city and pray that it would continue to be one of our strengths, that we would find ways to celebrate difference and create partnerships. We pray your blessing on our city. Amen.
For reflection: ‘Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” Jeremiah 29:7
